In light of JD’s recent blog article regarding MySQL’s source release only for MySQL 5.0.30, I am releasing a binary version of MySQL 5.0.30 for the Ubuntu Linux distribution in .deb format.

I built this package on a production server that I have at my job that I just happen to have remote access to. This package is being released without any warranties, express or implied. I am not liable for any data loss that you may incur through the use of this package. If that is unacceptable, do not use this package. I built this package on Ubuntu Linux 6.06 “Dapper Drake” using gcc 4.0.1. It should work on that platform and it may work on other debian-based distributions, but YMMV (your mileage may vary). The usual warnings apply. Yada, yada, yada… legalese… legalese…

Installation Instructions:

1. Click Here For Package
2. Once the package has finished downloading, open up GNOME Terminal (or use a bash login).
3. cd to the path where you downloaded the package.
4. $ sudo dpkg -i mysql_5.0.30-1_i386-ubuntu-dapper.deb
5. Read this, skipping the sudo apt-get install mysql step.
