MySQL 5.0.33
As luck would have it, MySQL Co. et. al. has released the latest version of their MySQL database server, version 5.0.33 in source-code format. While this is great from a free-software point of view, it isn’t so much with the user community at large who just want the software to work. Those of us who are not adept at building packages are in a vexing situation.
So with that in mind, I have created another Ubuntu Dapper Drake package just for you, my fellow Binary Badasses. The instructions are more or less the same as the 5.0.30 version before, but I will copy/paste them and modify them as needed, which isn’t very much. I realize that it’s most likely overkill to recompile and make a whole new package from a minor version number such as this, but sometimes, as Binary Badasses and Linux/UNIX users, we have completely neurotic package requirements and I can utterly sympathize with that. Without further ado, here you go! Remember, the same warnings and disclaimers apply.
Installation Instructions:
- Once the package has finished downloading, open up GNOME Terminal (or use a bash login).
- cd to the path where you downloaded the package.
$ sudo dpkg -i mysql_5.0.33-1_i386.deb- Read this, skipping the
sudo apt-get install mysqlstep.
